At the annual Fleet Transport Awards 2015, the all-New Renault Trafic with its new ENERGY dCi diesel, was honoured with the Irish Green Engine of the Year 2015 Award at a Gala Dinner ceremony attended by 820 representatives from the road transport industry.

For the eighth year running, the Fleet Transport Awards includes a Green Commercial Awards programme in association with ESB ecars, which distinguishes the research and developments made by commercial vehicle manufacturers in engine efficiencies.

“Downsizing engine displacement in a van is a gamble that worked well for Renault with its innovative 1.6 lite ENERGY dCi Twin-Turbo diesel engine. It has the feel of a 2.0 litre but uses 25% less fuel,” stated the judging panel?

Renault has broken new ground in the realm of downsizing with the introduction of Twin-Turbo technology for its diesel ENERGY engines. This technology allows the same performance to be achieved as a 2.0 litre powerplant, while at the same time cutting fuel consumption by up to 25% (compared with the dCi 115 available for Trafic II).?Based on the Energy dCi 130, it employs a number of technologies derived from the brand’s successful involvement in Formula 1 including:?Transverse water flow system for enhanced engine cooling, ?U-Flex piston rings for a better trade-off between friction and lubrication,? (Diamond Like Carbon) DLC superfinishing to minimise friction
